Suga Apologises For “Tarnishing BTS’ Name” After Drunk Scooter Incident
Suga has expressed deep regret after being fined and having his licence suspended for riding an electric scooter while intoxicated. The BTS member recently issued a second apology to fans on
WeVerse, sharing a handwritten note in which he admitted he had “tarnished the name” of the group.
In his heartfelt apology, Suga wrote, “I would like to apologise to you again with an embarrassed heart. I deeply apologise for disappointing and hurting my fans and everyone who loves me with my wrongdoings. I forgot my sense of responsibility to repay the love I have received with my actions and made a big mistake.”

The incident occurred in Seoul’s Yongsan district, where an officer found Suga on the ground after falling off his electric scooter. A breathalyser test revealed his blood alcohol levels were above the legal limit, leading to his booking at Yongsan Police Station on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.
Suga’s apology continued, “It is all my fault. My carelessness is making it difficult for everyone who cares about me. I will try not to make the wrongdoings again and live my life repenting.” He also acknowledged the impact of the incident on BTS, stating, “Because of this incident, I have greatly tarnished the precious memories I have made with the members and fans and have tarnished the name of BTS.”

He expressed his sorrow for the distress caused to his fellow members and fans, saying, “I am so sorry and in pain that it is difficult to express how I have caused harm to the members and the team. I am sorry that the members who always believed in me have had a hard time because of me. And I also know very well how disappointed the fans who supported and cheered me must have felt.”
Suga concluded his note by accepting responsibility for his actions, stating, “I will gladly accept any punishment that is given in the future, as well as criticism and reprimands. Lastly, I once again bow my head and sincerely apologise for causing social controversy and disappointing many people.” This follows an earlier apology in which Suga assured fans that “no other persons or establishments” were affected by the accident. BigHit Entertainment, BTS’ record label, also issued a statement apologising for the incident.
