‘Survivor’ Demi Lovato gets inked

Demi Lovato gets a brand new tattoo and it looks absolutely great! But what makes it extra special for her and her fans is that the tattoo is a reminder to herself that she’s a fighter after a year full of highs and lows in 2018. She’s bounced back stronger and we couldn’t be happier.

The songstress had a turbulent 2018 with an episode of fatal drug overdose in the summer, six years after previously kicking her substance abuse habit. She has been sober for over a year now and is slowly but steadily making a comeback. From making new music to talking about body positivity, the ‘Échame la Culpa’ hitmaker has reconnected with her fans on a whole new level and got inked to remember the issues she’s overcome.

Demi took to Instagram with a snap of her new single-needle scripted body art, located on the lower right side of her neck. It’s a simple, elegant word that likely holds a lot of meaning for the star: “survivor.” It is very special and rightly so. She didn’t come out and say as much, but the singer looks to be the strongest she’s ever been, and has been vocal in the past about having gotten through her rough patches to come out on the other side as a fighter.

“What I see in the mirror is someone that’s overcome a lot. I’ve been through a lot and I genuinely see a fighter,” Demi opened up during a previous interview, “I don’t see a championship winner, but I see a fighter and someone who is going to continue to fight no matter what is thrown their way.” Previously, she debuted a “T” script tattoo on the inside of her arm showing it to the world along with a plea for anyone struggling with addiction to seek treatment. It was meant as a sweet tribute to her friend Thomas Trussell III, and positioned above the rose tattoo further down her arm.

Lovato recently teased new music in her Instagram post when she wrote, “The next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing….” She has also found new love in the model, Austin Wilson. Things are looking bright for the singer and we wish nothing but strength and love to the ‘survivor’ this coming year.
