Swedish House Mafia Reveals They Discarded an Entire Album
Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia revealed that the group decided to discard the material they had been working on as the follow-up to their 2022 album Paradise Again.
Since the release of their debut LP, the trio – which includes Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso – has dropped two singles: ‘Lioness’ featuring Niki & the Dove, and ‘Finally,’ a collaboration with Alicia Keys that reinterprets Kings of Tomorrow and Julie McKnight’s 2001 track of the same name.
In a recent interview, Angello was asked about the status of the band’s upcoming album. He laughed before explaining that they had initially completed an album, but ultimately scrapped it and chose to release singles instead. He went on to share that the group is constantly working on new music, and when they feel it’s ready, they’ll release it. He emphasized that as creators, they won’t release something unless they truly feel good about it.
Angello reassured fans not to worry, explaining that despite the scrapped album, new music from Swedish House Mafia would be coming soon. He mentioned that there’s always plenty of music on the way, especially with their group. He added that they’ve created a significant amount of music over the past few years, and as a result, they’ll have a steady stream of new releases.
Last year, the trio teased a new album during their performance at Tomorrowland. According to DJ Mag, while introducing their single ‘Ray of Solar,’ Angello told the crowd that the track would be featured on an album they planned to release later that summer.
