Sydney Sweeney and Halsey Star in Gritty Western Thriller ‘Americana’

Sydney Sweeney is back again in a frenzy!

Sydney Sweeney and Halsey are thrown into a bloody battle for a valuable piece of Native American history in the gritty neo-Western thriller ‘Americana.’  Set against the backdrop of a rocky South Dakota hamlet, the film explores themes of survival, criminality, and heritage in a modern ‘Wild West’ setting.

The plot centres on the theft of a holy Lakota ghost shirt, which is a deeply culturally significant artefact that sets off a hazardous and chaotic series of events.  The lives of numerous locals are embroiled in a high-stakes, no-holds-barred theft as the relic makes its way into the illicit market.

The film centres on a small-town woman and her kid, whose tranquil existence is upended by the appearance of an eccentric waitress, a damaged veteran of the war, and an unethical antiques dealer.  A leader of the Indigenous community and his team intervene as emotions rise, aiming to retrieve the stolen ghost shirt and put it back where it belongs.

In addition to Sydney Sweeney and Halsey, the ensemble cast of Americana includes Zahn McClarnon, Paul Walter Hauser, Simon Rex, and Eric Dane.  Every character contributes their unique spin to the multi-layered story, resulting in an exciting journey through justice, redemption, and treachery.

After making her live-action debut in ‘MaXXXine’, Halsey's acting career has taken a significant turn.  Despite being well-known for her music, Halsey has started to make an appearance in movies and has shown promise in roles that require a lot of passion.

Sydney Sweeney keeps on her big-screen momentum after recent hits in films including ‘Madame Web’, ‘Anyone But You’, and ‘Immaculate’.  In addition, she will feature in Ron Howard's next survival drama ‘Eden’, which releases the same weekend as ‘Americana’, putting her at the forefront of two significant movie premieres.

In his feature debut, Tony Tost wrote and directed ‘Americana’, which is supported by the storytelling skills he developed while penning critically acclaimed TV shows like ‘Damnation’, ‘Longmire’, and ‘The Terror’.  By combining the urgency and aesthetic of modern thrillers with the tone of vintage Westerns, his transition to the director's chair creates a distinctive vision for the screen.

On 22nd August, ‘Americana’ will be released in theaters, giving viewers a new perspective on the Western genre in which tradition collides with chaos and all characters suffer losses.
