SZA Announces New Album Set for Release by Year’s End

SZA has confirmed that her upcoming album will arrive “before the year is over.” The singer, who has been teasing her anticipated project Lana since 2023, shared the news during a livestream with streamer Kai Cenat and Lizzo.

When asked about new music, SZA revealed that a “whole new project” is on the way and assured fans it would be released before the year’s end. The announcement prompted an excited reaction from both Lizzo and Cenat, who responded with loud screams of surprise.

This isn’t the first time SZA has hinted that new music would arrive before 2025. On November 15, reports suggested her next project would be released this autumn, wrapping up just before Christmas.

The news follows SZA’s recent announcement that she plans to take a break from live performances for a while. Reflecting on her career, she expressed ongoing struggles, admitting she often questions whether music is still the right path for her. She explained that fame has been challenging, citing anxiety and self-doubt, but added that she continues to persevere, believing there is a purpose behind her position. However, she acknowledged the toll it has taken, describing the effort as overwhelming.

Discussing the creation of her new album Lana, SZA shared that the process came from a more positive and hopeful place compared to her earlier work. She noted that her music is evolving as she distances herself from identifying with past pain and experiences of cruelty, allowing her to embrace a lighter perspective. She described this shift as a gradual journey reflected in her songwriting.

Recently, SZA also featured on Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album GNX, a collaboration she had hinted at over a month ago.
