Taylor Lautner About Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ Release: “I Feel Safe, Praying For John”

After Taylor Swift’s grand announcement of ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Swifties have been speculating that some people will have a tough time when the album comes out. However, Taylor Lautner isn’t one of them!

Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift dated for a while in late 2009, and he went on to inspire her hit breakup song ‘Back to December’. However in an interview, he noted that he was not concerned about fans rehashing old times. “I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe,” he said, before adding, “Praying for John.”

This “John” is undoubtedly John Mayer, who was the subject of Taylor’s ‘Speak Now’ album cut ‘Dear John’ and ‘The Story of Us’. It is for him she sang, “Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong/ Don’t you think 19 is too young/ To be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?/ I should’ve known.”

Swift has not played many tracks from the album on her Eras Tour, including ‘Dear John’ and ‘Back to December’. ‘Enchanted’ is the only song that made it to the core setlist so far. Even so, she opted to highlight ‘Speak Now’, ‘Ours’ and ‘Mean’ as acoustic surprise songs. This could possibly change only her album releases.

Lautner has since married another woman named Taylor, and Mayer recently extended his own ongoing solo acoustic tour. Lautner and his wife Taylor also gave an interview on ‘Today’ to promote their new podcast ‘The Squeeze’.
