Taylor Swift continues to admire Charli XCX despite recent rumours of a feud. After Charli’s track ‘Sympathy Is a Knife’ from her ‘Brat’ album sparked speculation of tension between the two, Swift spoke to New York magazine, expressing her admiration for Charli’s artistry. Swift, 34, praised Charli’s innovative songwriting and consistent creativity, saying she’s been impressed since first hearing her music in 2011.

Rumours of a rift began when fans speculated that ‘Sympathy Is a Knife,’ which touches on feelings of insecurity, might be about Swift. Charli, who opened for Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, later clarified her comments about the experience after describing it as performing for a young audience.

She also addressed the song’s lyrics, which some fans believed referenced Swift’s past relationship with Matty Healy, though Charli declined to confirm this.

In her interview, Charli emphasized that the song reflects her anxieties and insecurities, not a specific person. She also responded firmly to questions about potentially altering the lyrics. Additionally, Charli addressed negative fan behaviour, particularly the chants against Swift at her concerts, calling for an end to such actions and emphasizing that it goes against the spirit of her community.
