Taylor Swift Wins Best Artist, Best Live and Best Video at 2024 MTV EMAs
Taylor Swift had a standout night at the 2024 MTV EMAs, winning four awards, the most of any artist. On 10th November, she claimed Best Artist, Best Live, Best Video, and Best US Act. While she wasn’t able to attend the event at Co-Op Live Arena, she recorded a video acceptance speech to express her gratitude to her fans.
In the video, which was later shared on social media, Swift explained that she was coming to them from the Eras Tour and was sad not to be there in person. She thanked her fans for recognizing the tour, the album, and the video, calling it “unbelievable.”
She also expressed her gratitude to Post Malone, saying that he had been the “most amazing co-star possible” in the Fortnight music video, and praised her “amazing” DP Rodrigo Prieto. She acknowledged her fans, saying that they were the reason “any great thing happens” to her and that she feels it every day. She added that she was so thankful and found the whole experience exciting and wonderful. Lastly, she mentioned how much she enjoyed touring Europe that summer and was grateful that her fans did this for her.
The 2024 MTV EMAs were hosted by Rita Ora for a record-breaking third time, featuring live performances from Benson Boone, RAYE, Shawn Mendes, Teddy Swims, The Warning, LE SSERAFIM, Peso Pluma, Tyla, Busta Rhymes, and Pet Shop Boys.
During the ceremony, Ora also delivered a moving tribute to her late friend and collaborator Liam Payne, who tragically passed away last month at the age of 31.
She said that she wanted to take a moment to honour someone who was “very, very dear to us” and who had been a significant part of both the MTV world and her personal life, as well as the lives of many viewers. She mentioned that Liam Payne was “one of the kindest people” she had known. She added that there had been many discussions on how to honour him, but sometimes simply speaking from the heart was enough.
Other major winners at the EMAs included Sabrina Carpenter, who won Best Song for Espresso, Ariana Grande for Best Pop, Liam Gallagher for Best Rock, and Eminem for Best Hip-Hop, among others.
