Taylor Wins Another Award

Taylor Swift made a special appearance at the NME Awards 2020 at O2 Academy Brixton in London. Dressed in an edgy ensemble of a pin striped romper with a white shirt and a Jimmy Choo purse, she accepted her award in person.
Taylor who released more singles than any other artist in the US this decade won the Best solo act in the world title. Her fellow contenders were Billie Elish, Lizzo, Charli XCX, Lana Del Ray, Yungblud and FKA twigs.
In her acceptance speech she humored the fact that this was her second NME and she’s grateful that her first one would have some company. The awards are shaped like hands with a finger sticking out. “It’s amazing to have a matching set. I’m honored”.
In 2016, she accepted her award for Best International Solo Artist through a recorded acceptance video screened at the event.
This year she said “This is my first time at the NME Awards, and like, I just feel like everyone here is so shy, so reserved. Are you guys having any fun tonight? Are you going to come out of your shells at all?””Oh, wait no. This is like the craziest award show I’ve ever been to,” she added. And it truly was a crazy show, owing to Slowthai who dived into the crowd when someone called him a misogynist for flirting with the host.
The NME Awards are the first celebrity event that Taylor has attended since she appeared at the premier of her documentary “Miss Americana” at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. She also did not show up for the 2020 Grammy’s, where she was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and the Song of the Year. She lost both the Billie Eilish who bagged 4 Grammies that night.
