Tay Tay Has Dropped “The Man” Lyric Video

The official lyric video for Taylor Swift’s single “The Man” has dropped, and it is one for the books.

The track was originally just a feature on the award-winning singer’s most recent studio album “Lover”, but was recently released as a single from the project, up for radio-play and chart qualification.

Swift teased the release of the official music video on the same day as the scheduled release. Now, lyric videos may not seem like the best way to make a statement, but this video proves that theory wrong. Think of this one as a music video with the lyrics on screen. Collaborating with a team of animators, the video details the journey of a woman “living in a man’s world”. The song and video both make Taylor’s fight clear – a fight for equality and against sexism.

Taylor has been no stranger to excessive scrutiny and ludicrous double standards meated out to women by the industry. She has been outspoken about the same, more so in recent years, calling out people and organisations by name fearlessly. She even fought a sexual harassment case against her abuser through a public trial.

Fans and viewers get an insider look at Taylor’s writing process for “The Man” with her documentary “Miss Americana”. The scene depicts a conversation with her producer at the time, where Taylor explains how difficult it is to navigate the hypocrisies of both the industry as well as society. Taylor further opened up about these double standards in her acceptance speech for the Billboard Woman of the Decade Award.
