Måneskin, Demi Lovato, Karol G, and Stray Kids have been confirmed as the inaugural performers for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Taking place at the renowned Prudential Center in New Jersey in September, all four acts are slated to take the stage.
Måneskin will return for the second consecutive year and debut their upcoming single ‘Honey (Are You Coming?)’. Additionally, they are in contention for the Best Rock award, courtesy of their track ‘The Loneliest’ from the recent album ‘RUSH!’. Demi Lovato is marking her VMA comeback after a six-year hiatus. Her appearance is strategically timed ahead of the release of her impending album ‘Revamped’. The artist is also a nominee in two categories: Best Pop and Video for good, recognized for her single ‘Swine’.
Karol G, in her debut appearance at the event, is a contender for three awards, including the highly sought-after ‘Artist of the Year’ accolade. K-pop sensation Stray Kids will also grace the VMA stage for the first time, presenting their song ‘S-Class’ from their latest album ‘5-Star’.
The nominations are led by Taylor Swift, Doja Cat and SZA. Taylor Swift boasts eight nominations, while SZA and Doja Cat each hold six. Additional artists such as Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith are also in the running with five nominations each. This array of musicians is collectively vying for the ‘Video of the Year’ award.
This year’s VMAs feature a remarkable 35 first-time nominees. Among these are acts like Kim Petras, Metro Boomin, Boygenius, Fletcher, Rema, Arya Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Kaliii, Peso Pluma, PinkPantheress, and Reneé Rapp.
