The Bad Guy’s Now Woman of the Year!
17 year old “bad guy” hit maker, Billie Eilish, will officially be crowned Woman of the Year at Billboard’s ‘Women In Music’ event next month. The career-landmark was announced right after the star won two American Music Awards, followed by an electric performance of her hit “all the good girls to hell”.
The breakout star who has undoubtedly had one of the biggest years in music, brought home the titles for Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock and New Artist of the Year, officially making her the youngest winner in those coveted categories. She also claims the title for the most-streamed artist on various on-demand music streaming services. Her record-breaking never stops as she sold out her 2020 hour in the first hour of tickets going live.
With all these career- defining credentials, there’s no real debate over the decision to make her Billboard’s Woman of the Year – “Billie has disrupted the entertainment industry through her music and social media platforms, leaving an indelible impact on the global cultural zeitgeist,” Billboard’s editorial director Hannah Karp said in a statement. “Her ability to speak to the Gen-Z population, making teens and young adults feel accepted in today’s society has quickly allowed Eilish to grow to the top of the charts, breaking the mold for this generation with her electric hair-color and sharp attitude,” she furthered.
Her baggy clothing, funky hair and don’t-care attitude has resulted in a massive teen following. Her music, which covers issues of depression and anxiety, has also resonated with audiences worldwide. Well, music is all about the soul right?
Congratulations, Woman of the Year. Can’t wait to see you in your crown.
