The Official Charts Company reports that Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet currently sits at Number Two, followed by Tyler, The Creator’s Chromakopia—last week’s chart-topper—at Number Three. Charli XCX’s Brat holds the fourth spot, while Chappell Roan’s The Rise And Fall of a Midwestern Princess rounds out the top five.
Among other new releases, Ed Sheeran’s +–=÷× (Tour Collection) ranks at Number Six, while Gracie Abrams’ former chart-topper The Secret Of Us closes the top 10. Elsewhere, Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake 2 debuts at Number 23, and Weezer’s self-titled debut album (The Blue Album) is set to re-enter the charts at Number 26 for its 30th anniversary, after originally peaking at Number 23 in 1994.
The Cure’s recent performance at The Troxy is expected to be their final show for the foreseeable future, as the band plans to return to touring in autumn 2025. Frontman Robert Smith recently disclosed that the group has another album that is “virtually finished,” with a third record also in progress. He expressed his intention to complete one of the albums before their next tour.
Smith shared that the band will resume activities next year, with plans to focus on finishing their second album. While they had initially considered playing festivals in 2024, Smith decided against performing during the summer. Instead, The Cure’s next live appearance is slated for autumn 2025, with regular performances expected to continue until their next major milestone, the band’s 2028 anniversary. Reflecting on past anniversaries, Smith noted that preparations for their 2018 celebration began in late 2016 but still felt rushed. Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of planning for 2028, which includes projects like a documentary film.
In other updates, Smith revealed that his wife, Mary Poole Smith, played a pivotal role in finalizing the tracklist for Songs Of A Lost World. Speaking to BBC Radio 6 Music’s Huw Stephens, he explained that Mary advised him to balance the album’s darker, sombre tracks with a few more upbeat ones, a suggestion he ultimately followed. Smith likened his songs to children, expressing a desire to give each one fair attention without showing favouritism.
