The Marley Family is Using ‘One Love’ To Spread Love

Reggae icon, Bob Marley was a mega-hit machine. His anthem, ‘One Love’ is arguably his most famous song! Tuff Gong International, a label founded by Marley himself, is set to re-release the smash-hit on July 17,2020. The re-released version will feature Marley’s daughter Cedella, son Stephen and grandson Skip.

This cover of Bob Marley’s track is releasing to raise funds towards UNICEF in support of their Covid-19 Relief Fund campaign. ‘One Love’ will drop in association with global record company Amplified Music. It will feature artists from conflict zones around the world as well as children who are living in severely affected countries.

All proceeds which will raise from the song and its related activities will be directed to Reimagine, UNICEF’s world wide campaign to help normalize things for children in a post-Covid world.

Originally released in 1977, the anthem had an eternal message of spreading love to all and unity among all communities. The message of the song is perfect for the conditions plaguing the world today.

The daughter of Bob Marley, Cedella said, “Over forty years ago, my father wrote ‘One Love’ about unity, peace and universal love during a time when there was much trouble in the world. Even in a time when we aren’t able to get together, his message remains true today, we can get through this global crisis if we come together through one love and one heart,”

Te recording of this version of ‘One Love’ took place at Cedella’s house in Miami. Who explains that she received Rita Marley’s blessings, “My mom, she came in and she listened, and she gave us a thumbs up and that seal of approval is priceless.”

The grandson of Bob Marley, Skip Marley, the rising star, mentioned that it reminded him of his first ever studio recording. Both of them have received their blessings from Rita Marley.

The funds raised will help the group Reimagine provide soap, masks, gloves, hygiene kits, protective equipment and information to people all over the world. Furthermore, UNICEF will also support recovery efforts and healthcare systems through the initiative. The jewelry brand Pandora has partnered with UNICEF and has said that it will match every dollar raised from ‘One Love’ giving up to $1 million.

With such powerful voices from the Marley house, we can’t wait to see how the song turns out to be!
