After being abandoned by her initial adoptive parents, Michael and Kristine Barnett, the Ukrainian orphan seemed to find her long-awaited happy ending when the Mans family adopted her. 

However, the final moments of the Investigation Discovery show revealed that Antwon and Cynthia Mans were also developing a sense of distrust towards Natalia.

“Something ain't right with Natalia. This girl is tweaking," Antwon claimed to show producers in a voiceover. "I feel like she's the enemy in the house. And she said to us, we have held her hostage. Made us look like we're the enemy."

The Barnetts faced charges of neglect of a dependent, as prosecutors were unable to pursue neglect of a child due to Natalia's court-ordered age change to 22. Michael Barnett was ultimately found not guilty on three counts, including neglect and conspiracy to commit neglect of a dependent.
