One Direction is one of the biggest boy band sensations, the world has ever witnessed . From the young to the old, everyone has at least heard of them, let alone bopped their heads to one of their songs. Formed in 2010 by Simon Cowell, these teenage boys had no idea what they were about to accomplish in the next five years.
But, things got a tad bit topsy-turvy when Zayn Malik left the band at the beginning of 2015. It was a hurdle the rest of the band members were not expecting and it saddened them deeply to find out that the former band member did not enjoy the music they were making. The other four grew closer at this point and dropped ‘Four’, the last album that was released by One Direction. And then, the band split up later in 2015.
In recent interviews, Liam Payne opened up about why the split from the band was a good thing for all the members. He pointed out that the success of the band scared him and he felt like he had lost control over everything. After a certain point, Payne wanted nothing to do with this insanity and had even lost his love and passion for singing when the band was at their peak.
The Pop-Star went on to say that he was asked to pay insurance and he had no clue how to. It was like, in some ways, they had grown up and in others they were still children. The singer admits that the stress levels and constant pressure from the management to produce new content had made him self-destructive.
Former band mate and friend, Niall Horan, also made a statement in an interview where he said that if the band had not broken up, they would have killed each other. And it’s now clear that all members of the band, including Zayn Malik, felt that way.
It’s been three years since the band split and they’re all still highly successful artists. While we do still miss the band, we’re not complaining, because all the boys are producing music that they enjoy and that can clearly be seen in the quality of their music and how happy they seem in the process of creating and performing.
We honestly wouldn’t mind a reunion either way. But only if that’s what they want!
