‘The Sandman’ Season 2 Introduces Thor, Loki, Odin And New Characters in Epic Banquets

OTT has unveiled a thrilling first look at ‘The Sandman’ season 2, based on Neil Gaiman’s iconic DC graphic novel. The upcoming season, set to explore the ‘Season of Mists’ storyline, introduces Norse Gods Thor, Loki, and Odin, adding a new layer of intrigue.

Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer abdicates the throne of Hell, leaving Dream, also known as Morpheus, in charge. This power shift sparks a scramble among immortals to claim Hell, hoping that Dream will bestow the key upon them.

In a featurette, Thor, played by Laurence O’Fuarain, Loki, portrayed by Freddie Fox, and Clive Russell’s Odin are seen attending a banquet hosted by Dream. According to executive producer and showrunner Allan Heinberg, the banquet is a gathering of various deities, gods, and fairies, further enriching the show’s mystical world.

The new season welcomes several fresh faces, including Ruairi O’Connor as Dream’s son Orpheus, Douglas Booth as Cluracan, Ann Skelly as Nuala, and Steve Coogan voicing Barnabas, the dog. Jack Gleeson takes on the role of Puck, while Indya Moore plays Wanda. Additionally, Dream’s siblings return, with Destiny, Delirium, Death, Prodigal, Desire, and Despair all attending a chaotic family dinner, bringing more drama and depth to the storyline.

Amid excitement for the new season, Gaiman has faced allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has strongly denied. The accusations have impacted several adaptations of his works, leading to the pause or cancellation of projects like ‘Dead Boy Detectives’ and ‘Good Omens’.

Despite these controversies, Warner Bros. TV’s ‘The Sandman’ season 2 remains on track and will premiere on Netflix. The official synopsis promises two captivating stories: one featuring a dreaming Siamese cat and another about a writer in search of inspiration.
