The Smile is set to release a new live album that they recorded during the Montreux Jazz festival earlier in Switzerland. They have confirmed that it will be a digital-only album which will be available soon on streaming platforms. The corresponding videos will be released simultaneously on their official YouTube channel a day prior.
The album ‘The Smile Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2022’ will be a compilation of the songs the trio played from their debut album. The songs performed include ‘You Will Never Work in Television Again’, ‘The Smoke’, ‘Pana-vision’, ‘Free in the Knowledge’ among many others. The Montreux Jazz festival took place in July where the band performed a total of 8 of their songs.
The YouTube video will be a concert film of the tracks performed during the Montreux Jazz Festival, and will be available only for 48 hours post the release. This will be the feature footage of the first ever live public performance of their new song ‘Bending Hectic’, which was surprisingly written the same day it was debuted. The band’s debut single ‘You Will Never Work in Television Again’ was released only in January 2022, six months before their performance.
The Smile, who started as a mysterious Radiohead side project, have now become the talk of the hour, owing to their successful live performance, and their 2022 tour across Europe and North America.
