The Stellar Gospel Music Awards Impressed Everyone

Kirk Franklin took home five awards during the virtual ceremony of the event which aired on BET on August 23, 2020. The 2020 Stellar Gospel Music Awards honored the late civil rights icon, John Lewis as CeCe Winans paid a tribute to him.

Kirk Franklin did not only steal the show but also co-hosted it with Jonathan McReynolds and Koryn Hawthorne. He took male vocalist of the year and contemporary male vocalist of the year, album of the year and contemporary album of the year, and producer of the year.

This the second year, where the event paid tribute to a figure. Last year, Aretha Fraklin was given the honour and this year Jogh Lewis. Along with this, this show honoured the ones at the front line of fighting against COVID-19.

Winners Of The Stellar Gospel Music Awards

Tasha Cobbs Leonard took artist of the year and contemporary female vocalist of the year. Donald Lawrence took home four awards which include song for the year and the performance of the year, choir of the year.

John P. McKee won three awards, The Walls Group, Le’ Andria Johnson and Pastor Mike Jr, each won two awards. The Walls Group took home the Gospel Music Awards for the contemporary duo/chorus group of the year second time in a row.

Though Stellar Gospel Music Awards virtually took place, people could not have expected it to be executed in a better way. It truly was a success!
