The Strokes Perform ‘Modern Age’ During an Intimate New York Fashion Week Concert
As part of a New York Fashion Week kick-off event for designer Heron Preston and Bose, The Strokes performed a small-scale set at The Glasshouse in Chelsea. View the setlist and watch clips from the performance below.
The Manhattan band began their performance with a brief jam session after Preston finished his DJ set. Frontman Julian Casablancas said to the audience, “This is our sound check right here,” before starting the song ‘The Modern Age’.
“I didn’t know about fashion week,” Casablancas also joked during the set. “I’m a recluse, I live in the woods. Wasn’t expecting all this,” he added before the band played, ‘I Can’t Win.’

The Strokes were scheduled to perform an encore that included the songs ‘Is This It,’ ‘Someday’ and ‘Reptilia,’ but they left the stage after playing the song ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom,’ which a fan in the audience requested.
The band has performed at Fashion Week before. To celebrate Tommy Hilfiger’s 25th anniversary, the band performed at the Metropolitan Opera back in 2010. After a four-year hiatus, The Strokes performed for the first time in New York at the event.

At an intimate concert at Baby’s All Right, Dev Hynes played a 2003 song by The Strokes. This was Blood Orange’s first Brooklyn performance in three years.
The Strokes and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are presently on tour, and they will soon be playing in Washington DC, Florida and Texas.
