‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star Reveals Why he Left Acting

Ian Somerhalder recently opened up about his experiences on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘Lost’ and the reasons behind his decision to step away from acting.

In an interview with magazine, Somerhalder expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had in these popular series.

While he values his past roles, he emphasised that his current focus lies off-screen. Somerhalder revealed that he has not appeared on camera as an actor or producer since August 2019. 

Following the conclusion of ‘V Wars’, he decided to step away from acting to concentrate on building his companies, launching films like ‘Kiss the Ground’, ‘Common Ground’, and ‘Ground Swell’, and raising his children.

Reflecting on his time on Lost, Somerhalder described it as a “very humbling experience.” He shared that he was the first actor cast and the first to be killed off the show, which was a difficult pill to swallow.

After leaving Lost in 2005, Somerhalder joined the cast of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ in 2009. The series gained significant popularity and has been viewed by nearly 1.2 billion people worldwide.
