The Weeknd Becomes the Most Listened to Artist on Spotify

The Weeknd broke a new Spotify record. He left Justin
Bieber behind in the race of the most-listened-to artist on Spotify. He has
almost 85.66 million monthly listeners. Earlier Bieber held the record, with
close to 84 million monthly listeners.

The release of his new album ‘Dawn FM’ earlier this month, contributed to his win. He is the highest of any artist right now, with the greatest number of listeners on Spotify.

The Weeknd’s fifth studio album ‘Dawn FM’ was released earlier this month (January 7), serving as the sequel to his 2020 full-length ‘After Hours’. Tesfaye has hinted that the new album might be part of a “trilogy” of albums. Fans have since gone to speculate that ‘Dawn FM’ is its second part, with a third album currently in the pipeline to complete it.

Apart from the groovy music
of the album, he was also in fame because of his song Here We Go Again as it
teased the singer’s romance with Angeline Jolie. The Weeknd never directly
mentioned Jolie in the song, but fans believe that the lyrics are about Jolie.

‘Dawn FM’, which The Weeknd
had long been teasing before its arrival, features guest appearances from the
likes of Tyler, The Creator, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Lil
Wayne. It also features narration from actor Jim Carrey, who praised the record
as “deep and elegant” prior to its release.

Taking to Twitter, he has shared a few posts about his achievement and fans are super excited about this.
