Tilda Swinton has declared that she is taking a hiatus from acting in movies, citing the need for time to refocus.
In addition to her well-known roles as the White Witch in the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ films and ‘The Ancient One’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Swinton has been a major player in arthouse cinema for more than thirty years, appearing in movies like ‘Only Lovers Left Alive’, ‘Snowpiercer’, ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’, and ‘Adaptation’.
Swinton explained in a recent interview with The Guardian that she is taking a break from some areas of film rather than completely abandoning it. She underlined the value of remaining useful and admitted that her frequent international travels had made it impossible for her to do so. She said she was glad she wouldn't have to travel for months, but she won't be doing any more filming this year since she's been stuck in a "spin cycle" for too long.

She also expressed how happy she was to be at home and enjoy the sky, the ocean, and the company of others instead of living in what she called a bunker-like environment because of her job obligations.
Recently, Swinton went to the Berlin Film Festival to promote Joshua Oppenheimer's new film, ‘The End’ (‘The Act of Killing’). The movie, which is set twenty years after an environmental catastrophe, centres on a millionaire family who seek refuge in an opulent bunker as the rest of the world burns. ‘The End’, which stars Michael Shannon and George MacKay, will be released in UK theatres on March end.

In addition to her acting career, Swinton surprised everyone by joining Orbital on stage at Glastonbury last year while wearing a flowing white dress and glowing glasses. She gave the audience instructions to focus on a single thing, take a deep breath, and close their eyes as she presented their song ‘Deeper’.
