Tim Burton Teases Future Collaboration With Johnny Depp

Tim Burton has given fans a clue that he and Johnny Depp may work together on a future project. Speaking at the Marrakech International Film Festival, the filmmaker said he would be open to working with Depp again. The two have teamed on several classic movies, such as ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, and ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Burton underlined that the character of each movie influences his casting choices, underscoring the need for artistic teamwork in the filming process.

Their collaboration, which started in 1990 with ‘Edward Scissorhands’, produced a number of other noteworthy films, including ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’, and ‘Ed Wood’. Burton was excited to work with Depp once more, but he rejected the idea of doing follow-ups to some of his classics, including ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and ‘Edward Scissorhands’, since he believed they were too good to be solo films.

A future Tim Burton documentary will also centre on Depp's performance in ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Actors like Tom Hanks, Michael Jackson, and Tom Cruise were all considered for the job before Depp finally got it, according to the documentary series. Despite his initial reluctance to meet with Burton, Depp's love for the character and the writing resulted in their long-lasting collaboration.

There is still no release date for the upcoming documentary about Burton's career, which includes interviews with his regular collaborators.
