Timothée Chalamet Earns Double Best Picture Nominations at Oscars 2025

With two of his films nominated, Timothée Chalamet is well-represented in this year’s Oscar Best Picture category. Chalamet plays the lead in both the science-fiction sequel ‘Dune: Part Two’ and the Bob Dylan biographical ‘A Complete Unknown’, which were announced earlier today as the 2025 Oscars’ Best Picture candidates.

Chalamet’s portrayal of Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’ garnered him a nomination for Best Actor in addition to Best Picture. After receiving a nomination for Best Actor in 2018 for his performance in Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Call Me By Your Name’, this is his second Oscar nomination.

In addition to Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound, and Best Costume Design, ‘A Complete Unknown’ was nominated for eight awards. Alex Flood gave the movie a four-star review on NME, lauding its treatment of Bob Dylan’s songs and stating that it’s ideal for both new and devoted fans of the legendary musician.

Chalamet recently made headlines when he rode a Lime bike to the biopic’s London premiere, only to be fined for it.

‘Dune: Part Two’, meanwhile, received five nominations, including Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Sound, and Best Cinematography. In February 2024, Matthew Turner gave the movie a four-star review on NME, praising its enormous grandeur, breathtaking cinematography, and ethically nuanced narrative. Chalamet amusingly revealed in an interview that he kept a sandworm-shaped popcorn bucket beneath his bed after the movie’s promotional item went viral.

On 2nd March, the 97th Academy Awards will take place. Right now, ‘A Complete Unknown’ is showing in theatres.
