Timothée Chalamet Reveals He Gained 20 Pounds to Portray Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’

In order to play Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’, Timothée Chalamet disclosed that he put on twenty pounds. Chalamet discussed his efforts in a recent NPR interview, stressing that he concentrated on all facets of the role, including personality and physical. He was thinner than the real Bob Dylan, thus gaining weight was one of the major alterations he made for the part.
In addition, Chalamet talked about how, during previous auditions for films like ‘Divergent’ or ‘The Maze Runner’, he had been told that his body type wasn’t suitable for such parts. Rather, he looked for more individualized roles in movies like ‘Little Women’ and ‘Lady Bird’, which gave him the courage to play the lead.
Chalamet also learned how to play Dylan’s songs for his role, which he showcased at his most recent ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance. During his performance of Dylan’s ‘Outlaw Blues’ and ‘Three Angels’ James Blake played piano alongside him. After receiving a nomination for ‘Call Me By Your Name’, Chalamet’s performance earned him a second Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

According to Variety, ‘Dune: Part Two’ and ‘A Complete Unknown’ were nominated for Best Picture. The way Dylan’s music is portrayed in ‘A Complete Unknown’ has received appreciation; NME gave the movie a four-star rating and emphasized how authentic the music is. According to reviews, the movie gives new fans an excellent introduction to Bob Dylan while giving devoted followers a more in-depth look at his work.
Chalamet recently made news when he rode a Lime bike to the movie’s London premiere and was subsequently fined for it. In 2023, he also hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’, when he played Martin Scorsese and parodied his ‘Got Me Started’ dance with a boy genius dressed as Troye Sivan.
