Timothée Chalamet Shares His Lifelong Admiration for Kendrick Lamar Before Super Bowl Show

The Grammy-winning musician Kendrick Lamar recorded an interview with Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet before his performance at the ‘Super Bowl Halftime Show’.
The two share a unique bond thanks to Bob Dylan; Lamar’s breakthrough song ‘Not Like Us’ samples a Ray Charles tune that Dylan also sampled in ‘Ballad of a Thin Man’, and Chalamet plays the renowned musician in the upcoming biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’.
Chalamet praised Lamar’s career in a three-and-a-half-minute video that the NFL shared on X (previously Twitter). He claimed to have been a longtime follower and was amazed by the rapper’s progress. In his reflection, he praised Lamar’s ongoing success and said it was unbelievable that he was going to be on the Super Bowl platform.

Their creative processes were discussed as well. Speaking about the nature of performing, Chalamet explained that it could feel like a kind of madness if there was no audience. He underlined the value of accepting failure and talked about the work required to get over self-consciousness before appearing in front of a camera. According to him, a person’s resilience is determined by how they handle a difficult day or a negative opinion.
Lamar responded by saying that he uses songwriting to stay clear and discover more about himself. He emphasised the value of being vulnerable and letting emotions run their course. He acknowledged that if it weren’t for the music, he might never have explored the ideas and feelings in many of his songs.
SZA will be a special guest during Lamar’s Super Bowl concert in New Orleans, he announced last month. Chalamet recently revealed that he put on twenty pounds as a result of playing Bob Dylan in ‘A Complete Unknown’.
