Tom Cruise Drops Heart-Pounding BTS Sneak Peek of ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’

Tom Cruise continues to raise the standard for doing breathtaking cinematic stunts to an unachievable level. He has made a living by pushing the boundaries of action cinematography, whether it is by ascending the tallest skyscrapers in the world, jumping from 25,000 feet, or clinging to an aeroplane during takeoff. ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ demonstrates that he is still committed to pushing things further—this time, by digging deeper—just when it seems like Dead Reckoning had put his endurance to the limit.

According to a recently made public behind-the-scenes video, Cruise is getting ready for what could be his most daring stunt to date: an underwater scenario set in the wreckage of the Sevastopol submarine, which made its debut in ‘Dead Reckoning’. The scene, which was filmed in a massive 8.5-million-litre water tank, immerses Ethan Hunt in a high-stakes underwater conflict that swiftly gets out of hand.

Naturally, though, it would be insufficient to just hold his breath because this is Tom Cruise. Instead, he wears a specially designed lit diving suit and moves through a rotating, debris-filled environment in real-time, making it obvious to viewers that he is actually in the middle of the turmoil.

Although high-risk stunts are nothing new to Cruise, this sequence added a new set of risks, such as the possibility of hypoxia, a condition brought on by oxygen deprivation. He was only able to wear the suit for ten minutes at a time before the carbon dioxide buildup started to impair his muscles. He clarified that it was yet another demanding test of endurance since he had to overcome this physical obstacle while keeping complete control over his movements and remaining true to his persona.

Although it may seem hard to balance the physical demands of the feat with the elaborate underwater choreography, Cruise views it as just another day on the set.

On 23rd May 2025, ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ will be released in theatres, including IMAX.
