Tom Cruise Gears Up for ‘Top Gun 3’ as Sequel Plans Take Flight

Tom Cruise has officially confirmed that ‘Top Gun 3’ is currently in the early stages of development.  The Hollywood legend disclosed that a new ‘Top Gun’ sequel is in the works while promoting the next ‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’.

Tom Cruise is returning to the high-flying world of naval aviation as he wraps off his role in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise, with the last instalment hitting UK theatres in May.  The actor revealed that the third ‘Top Gun’ film is already in the planning stages.  Tom Cruise clarified that he and his group are now debating different plotlines and examining potential future paths for the brand.

As Tom Cruise noted, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ took over thirty years to produce, and the upcoming film is being planned with an equal level of care. He added that other classic games like ‘Days of Thunder’ are also being discussed.

Tom Cruise played Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the 1986 film ‘Top Gun,’ and he returned to the role in the 2022 film ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ Thanks to its exciting action scenes and nostalgic references to the first movie, the sequel was a huge worldwide hit.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’, meanwhile, is making news.  Shaun Gray recently sued Paramount Pictures for allegedly assisting in the creation of key scenes for the 2022 film. For copyright infringement, Gray is requesting recognition and a portion of the earnings or damages.  In response, Paramount said that the complaint was without merit and that they were confident it would be dismissed.

 In other heartbreaking news, Tom Cruise recently honoured his late co-star Val Kilmer, who died at the age of 65.  Earlier this year, Kilmer, who played Iceman in the original ‘Top Gun’ and returned for the sequel, passed away from pneumonia-related complications.

Fans can anticipate another thrilling cinematic experience as ‘Top Gun 3’ progresses, with Tom Cruise once again taking the lead from the cockpit.
