Tom DeLonge Dubbed The New Blink-182 Album as Their “Most Progressive”

According to Tom DeLonge, Blink-182's upcoming album features some of their most advanced music to date.

On Twitter, the co-vocalist and guitarist, who just made a comeback to the pop-punk band after a seven-year hiatus, said that the new album has some of the group's most "elevated" tracks.

He wrote: “The new @blink182 album has some of the most progressive, and elevated music we’ve ever had. In honesty, I am holding my breath for you to hear these other songs. 'Edging' is fun and a perfect way to remind u of the fun again. But just u f*****g wait. 😈”

DeLonge and his bandmates, drummer Travis Barker and bassist and co-vocalist Mark Hoppus, recently made a comeback with a brand-new song called 'Edging'.

After months of teasing, the band officially announced DeLonge's return. DeLonge co-founded Blink with Mark Hoppus in 1992 but left the group in 2015 "to change the world for my kids."

In addition, the musician quit the band in 2005 to concentrate on Angels & Airwaves, a side project of his 2001-founded additional group, Box Car Racer.

Matt Skiba, the lead singer of Alkaline Trio, who replaced Tom DeLonge in Blink-182 in 2015, stated in July that he wasn't sure if he was still a member of the band. Before Hoppus remarked that the original trio was in a very great position, DeLonge made a hint that he had returned to the group.

Blink has now added an additional London show to their 2023 UK and Ireland tour after the news of DeLonge's comeback spread and the group revealed information about their world tour. DeLonge has since expressed his gratitude to Matt Skiba, the former guitarist for Blink-182.

“I wanted to take a minute and say thank you for all that you have done to keep the band thriving in my absence,” he wrote. “I think you are enormously talented (I still love and listen to your band to this day)."

“You have always been so kind to me, not only in the press, but also to others. I really noticed. Emotions between the three of us in blink have always been complicated, but Mark’s cancer really put things in perspective. But to be honest, the band would not even be here today if it were not for your ability to jump in and save the day.”

DeLonge concluded: “So from my heart to yours, thank you for being a member of our band.”

The upcoming album from Blink-182 will be "the best album of our career," he previously said. The title and release date have not been disclosed. 2019 saw the release of Blink-182's most recent studio album, ‘Nine’. Skiba had been on two records, the first being 2016's ‘California’. DeLonge hadn't contributed to a Blink project since 2012's ‘Dogs Eating Dogs’ EP before ‘Edging’.
