Tom Hardy Admits Action Roles Are Taking a Toll on His Body

Our beloved Tom Hardy has given us numerous jaw-dropping action sequences to enjoy, but now it seems our hero is falling apart.

Tom Hardy is experiencing physical effects from years of doing difficult stunts and playing action-packed roles.  Known for his strong performances in movies like ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ and ‘Venom,’ Tom Hardy has revealed that his physical health has deteriorated over his career.

In an honest chat with Esquire, Tom Hardy considered the effects that his roles have had on him. He described his experience playing Eddie Brock in ‘Venom’ as an exhilarating yet chaotic challenge, akin to managing chainsaws while balancing on a unicycle. He pushed himself to the limit for this role, but he is now facing the repercussions.

Tom Hardy revealed the number of surgeries he had that made his body fragile. Tom Hardy revealed that he has had two knee surgeries, a herniated disc in his back, ongoing sciatica, and is also dealing with plantar fasciitis. Additionally, he has strained a tendon in his hip. With a touch of humour, he shared that it feels as if everything is falling apart—and he understands it’s unlikely to get better over time.

Nevertheless, Tom Hardy is not backing down. He is currently featured in ‘MobLand’, a crime series with co-stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, and his latest film ‘Havoc’ was released in April.

About his well-known character as Venom, Tom Hardy and director Kelly Marcel had previously decided that ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ would mark the end of the saga. They initially envisioned it as a trilogy and remained committed to that concept.

Even though Eddie Brock’s narrative may have wrapped up, Tom Hardy has expressed a desire to eventually face off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. However, as he states, that aspiration lies beyond his control—just a hopeful thought from an actor fully engaged in the superhero realm.
