Top 5 Quarantine Collaborations to Keep You Company

justin bieber and ariana grande

While all of us stay at home, in lockdown, fighting against the coronavirus pandemic, there are musicians who have used the time wisely. Collaborating with new friends, and old ones, here’s a rundown of all the musicians who have put out collaborations in quarantine.

1. Halsey and Marshmello

New Jersey native, Halsey, and American DJ Marshmello collaborate for the first time on a track called “Be Kind“. Fitting for the times we’re in, the track talks about giving and receiving love from the people we love. Complete with signature vocals from Halsey, and the kind of slow-tempo acoustic sound Marshmello is known for, this up-tempo track might just be the reminder you need to be kind to each other.

2. Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande

Justin Biber and Ariana Grande have been friends for years now. They’re even managed by the same person – the infamous Scooter Braun. And while their friendship is the ultimate representation of star power, they’ve never collaborated on a track. Until the Great Quarantine of 2020 arrived, that is. They finally put out their first collaboration with a song called “Stuck With U”. The track is surprisingly refreshing, taking a turn from Grande and Bieber’s recent trap, r&b sound. It is a smooth jazz ballad that puts a smile on your face.

3. Travis Scott and Kid Cudi

Travis Scott and Kid Cudi paired up for the ultimate quarantine release – a track called “The Scotts”. Travis has long been a fan of Cudi, publicly declaring his admiration for the rapper, crediting him with “saving his life”. The track arrived with a lot of hype and garnered mixed reactions, though most were positive. This isn’t the pair’s first collaboration, and definitely won’t be the last.

4. Sam Smith and Demi Lovato

British pop star, Sam Smith, joined hands with American pop powerhouse, Demi Lovato, for a champion anthem with their track “I’m Ready”. The collaboration blindsided fans, registering as the kind of pairing one didn’t know they wanted, but needed. Complete with a refreshing verse, powerful vocals and a pop hook you can’t help but groove to, this track has it all. Get ready to dance in quarantine, folks.

5. Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj

Doja Cat has seen huge success in the last few months, with career-defining success. Her smash hit ‘Say So’ was remixed in quarantine, featuring fellow rap star Nicki Minaj. The remix immediately started charting upon release, climbing all the way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The historical record marked both rappers first Hot 100 No. 1 and has continued to be streamed relentlessly. If you thought the original, listen to the remix. This one is a bop like you’ve never seen.
