Travis Scott Shares His Thoughts on Coldplay’s Cover of ‘Goosebumps’
Travis Scott has responded to Coldplay’s recent cover of his hit song ‘Goosebumps’. The cover was performed during Coldplay’s fourth and final show at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on 10th November. When fans began chanting for Travis Scott’s song ‘FE!N,’ Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin turned to the crowd and asked what it means. He asked them if they wanted him to play ‘FE!N’ by Travis Scott. He said he was feeling the pressure and couldn’t remember the entire Travis Scott catalog at that moment.
A moment later, Chris Martin began rapping the chorus to Travis Scott’s hit ‘Goosebumps,’ even admitting it was his favourite song by Scott. After checking out the fans’ signs, the band launched into their own track, ‘God Put a Smile Upon Your Face,’ blending the ‘Goosebumps’ chorus into their performance. The clip was shared on social media, prompting a reaction from Travis Scott, who posted on X with a goat emoji (symbolizing “Greatest of All Time”) and wrote, “This got it.”
Travis Scott’s recent response follows previous mentions of Coldplay in his songs, including a shout-out in his 2016 track ‘Way Back’ and another reference last year in ‘Til Further Notice.’ Coldplay, meanwhile, is gearing up for the North American leg of their ‘Music of The Spheres’ world tour next year, followed by UK dates in London and Hull. They’re set to make history with a 10-night run at Wembley Stadium, surpassing the previous record held by Taylor Swift and Take That.
At the start of October, Coldplay released their 10th album, Moon Music, which quickly became the fastest-selling album by a UK artist in 2024, marking the biggest debut week on the UK’s Official Albums Chart for a British act since Adele’s 30. Before the release, Chris Martin shared insights with NME in his only written interview for the album, discussing the inspirations behind Moon Music and revealing that the band is nearing the end of their journey creating new music.
When asked if they still plan to conclude their main catalog after 12 albums, Martin confirmed that “the 12-album goal is very real,” adding that it’s “a nice feeling.” He explained that although they may continue touring or release compilations, the primary story will be complete, as “it just feels right.” This decision, he said, “energizes everything” they are creating now.
Additionally, Martin shared that this timeline has brought “more hunger” into their creative process, with each band member committed to preserving the quality of what they release. He assured fans that by the time their 12th album is finished, “everything will make sense” regarding Coldplay’s musical journey.
