Travis Scott Will Perform at The 2022 Billboard Music Awards

Travis Scott will perform at the Billboard Music Awards this weekend, marking his first significant public engagement since the disaster at his Astroworld concert in 2021.

The rapper, who is nominated in the Best Dance/Electronic Song category for HVME’s remix of his song ‘Goosebumps,’ has been added to the line-up of performers for the ceremony, which will take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on 15th May.

Ed Sheeran, Becky G and a collaboration between Elle King and Miranda Lambert are among the new additions to the list. Mary J. Blige, Megan Thee Stallion, Burna Boy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silk Sonic and Florence + the Machine are among the artists who will perform.

Since a crowd surge killed ten people and injured many more during his headline set at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas last November, Scott has slowly been re-entering the spotlight. In March, he played at a private pre-Oscars party, and the following month, he performed at a private Coachella after party.

Scott performed a 45-minute set at E11even nightclub in Miami over the weekend, his first public performance since the Astroworld disaster. He performed classics like ‘Sicko Mode’ and ‘Goosebumps,’ and was joined onstage by Migos’ Quavo for their 2017 single ‘Dubai Shit.’

Scott made an appearance on Ye’s ‘Donda 2’ in February, on the song ‘Pablo.’ He also appeared on ‘Hold That Heat’ with Future and 808 Mafia last month.

Morgan Wallen, a country musician, will also perform at this year’s awards, a year after he was banned from the 2021 event after video emerged of him using a racial slur.

When Wallen’s participation was announced earlier this month, MRC Live & Alternative, the producers of the Billboard Music Awards, stated that their choice was reached after lengthy deliberation among a diverse group of MRC employees.
