‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’ Gets Exciting Halloween Update
‘Trick ‘r Treat’ by Michael Dougherty, which was widely released in 2009, has established a solid reputation among Halloween-themed horror movies because to its anthology style and clever mix of humor and spookiness. Despite not developing into a brand like ‘Friday the 13th’ or ‘Halloween’, it gained popularity thanks to its mascot Sam, who represents Halloween and may be found on seasonal décor, costumes, and merchandising. Fans have been anticipating a sequel for years. A new commentary track provides a closer look at the creation of ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’, which Dougherty confirmed was officially beginning last Halloween.
Just in time for Halloween, Arrow Video has re-released ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ in 4K. It comes with a commentary track that includes Dougherty and presenters of horror podcasts James A.

Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca. In the course of this conversation, Dougherty disclosed that he worked with Krampus co-writers Todd Casey and Zach Shields on the script and that ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’ has already been storyboarded. The original’s distinctive blend of nonlinear storytelling and horror-comedy vibe must be preserved, Dougherty said while discussing the difficulties of making a sequel.
Despite obstacles, Dougherty said he was confident in the sequel’s development but underlined his preference for quality over quantity, saying the movie will only move forward with the correct funding and circumstances. For the time being, he is happy with how the script respects the original, preserving Sam’s character through the “Halloween rules” that were essential to the plots of the previous movie. In the meantime, four additional stories in the upcoming comic novel ‘Trick ‘r Treat: Witching Hours’ will delve deeper into Sam’s reality.

With ten years of the fanbase and Sam’s charming yet unsettling demeanour, Dougherty’s ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’ looks to be a spooky sequel to the cult favourite Halloween film. The 4K version is available on Arrow’s website for physical media collectors, and the original ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ is available for streaming on Max.
