In their new track ‘Clap,’ rappers Trina and Latto explain what it takes to impress them, with solid lyrics that border on the controversial. ‘Clap’ sees veteran rapper Trina take up-and-coming Latto under her wing, marking the artists’ second collaboration.
The single is reminiscent of classic ’90s hip-hop, with minimal melodies to focus on the duo’s risqué yet uplifting lyrics. The chorus of the song plays out: “Throw it in rotation, shawty bring that a** back, back, back, back / Clap, ayy, she gon’ shake that a** / She gon’ make that a** clap, clap“.

The track was released on 15th April and is the follow-up to Trina’s 2021 single ‘Receipts’. Trina’s latest studio album, ‘The One,’ was released in 2019. It’s unclear whether ‘Clap’ will appear on a larger body of work by the singer.
Trina’s sixth studio album, ‘The One,’ marked her comeback and first album since 2010’s ‘Amazin,’ and featured a collaboration with Nicki Minaj called ‘BAPS.’ Trina also included cameos from 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, and others on the album.
Meanwhile, Latto’s most recent release was ‘777,’ her first after departing from her previous stage name, Mulatto, about a year ago.
‘777,’ which featured Kodak Black, Childish Gambino, 21 Savage, Lil Durk, and others, garnered a four-star review from NME’s Jordan Basset, who said “the overall mood is buoyant.”
“Here is proof, once again, that Latto could go toe-to-toe with the best of ‘em,” Basset continued.
