Twenty One Pilots Delivered a Groovy Performance of ‘The Outside’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’

Last night (January 17), Twenty One Pilots performed their new single “The Outside” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The Ohio duo (Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun) performed as musical guests on the late-night US talk show in promotion of their latest album, “Scaled and Icy,” which was released last May.

Clad in a long black coat, Joseph sang next to a blue light shaped like the Twenty One Pilots logo, while Dun and the band’s touring members played behind him.

Brightly coloured lights illuminated the band, and spectacular graphics were projected on a screen at the back of the stage. “Thank you for having us,” Joseph said during the track’s funky breakdown.

Twenty One Pilots performed at The Forum in Los Angeles last week as part of iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO event. During the show, the band performed a rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow,’ and said Chris Martin and the rest of the band were “big influences on us”.

Meanwhile, video emerged of Muse frontman Matt Bellamy dancing in the crowd with Joseph. Resharing the clip on Instagram, Bellamy wrote: “When you’ve taken the kids to see Twenty One Pilots and Tyler Joseph decides to come in the crowd, sings right next to you, and you embarrass yourself, your family and everyone in the building.”

On January 9, Twenty One Pilots performed their first show of 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. They covered Elton John’s ‘Bennie And The Jets,’ and a fragment of My Chemical Romance’s 2004 song ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’ was included in ‘Shy Away.’
