Twisty Horror Classic ‘Orphan’ Set to Return with a New Threequel

Lionsgate has revealed that the ‘Orphan’ series will return with a third movie. Isabelle Fuhrman, who played Esther (also known as Leena Klammer) more than ten years ago, will play the part again. ‘Orphan: First Kill’, which examined Leena’s beginnings, was released after this. This next instalment will be directed by William Brent Bell, who also directed the sequel.

The main character of the ‘Orphan’ franchise is Leena Klammer, an elderly woman who has a genetic disorder that causes her to resemble a small child. Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard play Kate and John Coleman, a couple dealing with the death of a child in the first film. They adopt Esther, who at first seems innocent but eventually shows her actual, evil nature, resulting in tragic

The first ‘Orphan’ movie made $78 million worldwide, but after a long break, the popularity of streaming services led to a renewed interest in the narrative. Leena’s past was explored in ‘Orphan: First Kill’ which revealed how she came up with her masquerade scheme as a young girl. The character and her story were further developed by the prequel, which starred Rossif Sutherland and Julia Stiles.

It’s yet to be determined if the new movie will be re-issued on Paramount+ or distributed in theatres. Only Fuhrman has been confirmed to return to the part thus far, but the franchise has included a number of gifted actresses in addition to Leena, such as character actress Margo Martindale and Vera Farmiga, who rose to stardom as Lorraine Warren in ‘The Conjuring’ series. It’s unclear if the third instalment will have a largely new cast or if any old characters will return to Fuhrman’s work.

The third ‘Orphan’ film’s release date has not yet been disclosed by Lionsgate.
