TXT Tease New Music Video for “PUMA”: Watch Now
South Korean boy group, TXT, have put out the second teaser of their upcoming music video for the track “PUMA”. The track features on their latest 6-track EP “The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY” and explores themes of breaking free from scrutiny and other aspects of Korean idol culture.
TXT are coming in hot after experiencing massive success with their latest release. The title track from the EP, “Can’t You See Me?” reigned supreme on both Korean and Japanese music charts. The EP even went on to set a record for the 5 member group on the Billboard Digital Songs Chart.
The music video for “PUMA” will mark the second music video from their latest release; the first being the dark, metaphorical video for the lead track “Can’t You See Me?”.
“PUMA” is a non-genre specific song that offers alt-pop production elements. The track features an interesting balance of rap and vocals, creating a refreshing music-scape. Rapper Yeonjun makes an appearance on the track with a fierce verse.
In the song, TXT explores the scrutiny and negative attention that comes with being a player in the Korean music industry. The track uses an interesting metaphor to detail their journey. Paralleling their struggles with that of a puma that escaped a zoo in South Korea and was eventually shot dead, the boys look at the idea of breaking free. The case of this escape sparked a massive debate about animal abuse in Korea, making their choice of metaphor even more interesting.
The music video for “PUMA” is all set to release on the 4th of June, Thursday at 12 AM KST.
