Tyler, The Creator is Having Copyright Strikes Removed so That Fans Can React to ‘Chromakopia’ on Social Media
Tyler, The Creator has announced that he’s working to have copyright strikes removed so fans can share full reactions to his new album on social media.
Since the release of Chromakopia in late October, many fans have posted their reactions online, but some have faced copyright strikes, with videos either having their sound removed or being taken down altogether. Tyler assured a fan on Instagram that his team is working to resolve the issue so fans can share their reactions without any penalties.

Earlier this year, amid their heated feud, both Kendrick Lamar and Drake removed copyright restrictions from their diss tracks aimed at each other, prompting widespread reactions and shares of their songs on social media.
In May 2023, Grimes criticized the role of copyright in music, arguing that it “strangles creativity.” She explained that art is a conversation with those who came before, and intertwining it with ego is a modern concept. She also pointed out that the music industry has been shaped by lawyers, which she believes limits artistic expression.
Grimes expressed that she finds everything about copyright to be problematic. She explained that there is “too much top-down control” and reflected on how, in the early days of TikTok, a lot of unusual music went viral. However, she pointed out that now, “the gatekeeping stranglehold” results in less interesting content being released.
Following the release of Chromakopia, Tyler has announced additional dates for his extensive Chromakopia world arena tour. He’s added three shows in his hometown of Los Angeles, as well as dates in New York, Austin, and Seattle. The European leg of the tour also now includes another show in Paris, and Australia has received three more dates as well.
