Victoria Monét And Usher Drop Sensual New Single ‘SOS’: “Enjoy The Escape”
The Grammy-winning artist has unveiled her latest track, ‘SOS’, featuring Usher, as part of her forthcoming ‘Jaguar II Deluxe’ project. This release marks a significant moment for Victoria Monét, as it’s her first collaboration since the success of ‘Jaguar II’, and her debut team-up with Usher. The track, described by Monét as “sex on sight,” continues her streak of creating sensual and impactful R&B hits.
In a press release, Monét explained that SOS is a song about “desire” and the “urgency you feel when you need some love, physical touch, and quality attention.” She likens the intensity of these feelings to being rescued from a natural disaster, stating, “Just like a storm, ‘SOS’ summons and forewarns a lover of the rainfall that is to come and welcomes the beautiful relief from that desire.” The track is infused with a romantic, playful, and sultry vibe, grounded in the rich tones of R&B that Monét is known for.

In ‘SOS’, Monét and Usher exchange verses over a smooth bassline, with production by Camper and a horn section reminiscent of Monét’s previous Jaguar releases. The lyrics showcase Monét’s signature boldness, as she sings, “I am way too sexy/To be alone… When you lay me down, put my leg to the clouds/I hope you’re ready for the rain.”
The acronym SOS is a playful nod to Monét’s knack for clever songwriting, following in the footsteps of her 2021 track ‘F.U.C.K.’ (short for “friend you can keep”). This new single further cements her reputation as a master of blending sensuality with artistry in her music.
Monét’s rise in the music industry has been marked by her dedication to perfection in her solo work. Reflecting on her journey, she has acknowledged the support from fans who recognise her as an underrated talent. “I’d always rather be underrated than overrated,” she said, expressing her gratitude for the ongoing recognition and the belief that there’s more to be shown and seen from her.
Monét also appreciates the sense of pride her early fans feel, noting, “I like that some people feel like they were early… It gives people an incentive to spread the word, too.” As she continues to carve her name into the annals of R&B history, SOS stands as another testament to her evolving artistry and enduring appeal.
