View Previously Unseen Footage From Jay-Z's 2001 Performance at Hot 97 Summer Jam

Over two decades after the event, new
footage of Jay Z's performance at the June 2001 edition of Hot 97 Summer Jam at
Nassau Coliseum in New York has surfaced. The epic performance saw the rapper
bring out Michael Jackson and Missy Elliott, as well as debut his Nas and Mobb
Deep diss track 'Takeover,' which would later appear on his album 'The
Blueprint.'

Jay projected a photo of Mobb Deep member
Prodigy participating in a dance class as a child onto large screens while
performing the song during his Summer Jam set. On the studio version of the
song, Jay referred to the moment by rapping, "Don't be the next
contestant on that Summer Jam screen."

Though the set's audio has been available
for some time, the performance's video was not until this week, when YouTube
channel HipHopVCR uploaded the entire 57-minute set, as Stereogum points out.

In other Jay-Z news, the rapper recently
appeared on Pusha T's 'Neck & Wrist,' the second track off the latter's
upcoming album 'It's Almost Dry.'

Jay raps on the Pharrell-produced track, "I blew bird money, y'all talkin' Twitter feed / We got different Saab stories, save your soliloquies." Jay and Push collaborated for the first time since 2016's 'Drug Dealers Anonymous.'

Last week, Jack White stated that he and Jay-Z have been collaborating, claiming that previously unreleased music with the rapper would "see the light of day." White confirmed in 2018 that his 'Boarding House Reach' single 'Over and Over and Over' was originally recorded during a 2009 collaborative session with Jay that was shelved.
