‘WAP’ Misses Out On Possible Grammy Nomination?
According to recent reports, the mega smash hit, ‘WAP’, courtesy Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, has been left out of the race for a Grammy Award this year. The track, which shattered the glass ceiling, has not been submitted as an entry. And, reports state that it may have something to do with an upcoming album from Cardi B.
Is There a Plan for ‘WAP’?
‘WAP’, which was released on the 7th of August, this year, met all the necessary criteria for Grammy eligibility. But, much to the industry’s surprise, the track never made it to the entries. And, recently, reports emerged that Cardi B and her team are looking at entering the track at the 64th Grammy Awards as a part of a possible upcoming album campaign.
The 63rd Grammy Award nominees haven’t yet been announced. In fact, entries were only just submitted by artists world over, hopeful for a shot at a Golden Gramophone. In addition, according to the eligibility criteria, the submissions had to be released between September 1, 2019 and August 31, 2020.
‘WAP’ has been a mammoth success for both Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. Further, it marks Cardi’s first single following the release of ‘Press’ back in 2019. In addition, upon release, the track sored the biggest debut streaming week in history, recording a whopping 93 million streams. Further, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, becoming the first ever female led, rap collaboration, to top the chart.
However, Cardi B and her team are yet to respond to the speculations.
