Watch Lady Gaga Confront Her “Inner Demons” in Haunting ‘Disease’ Video
Lady Gaga has unveiled the official music video for her latest single, ‘Disease’. Released last Friday (October 25), this electro-pop track is the first glimpse of her upcoming seventh album, ‘LG7,’ anticipated for a February 2025 release. Leading up to the launch, Gaga teased fans with a haunting preview and an official poster, building anticipation for the full, twisted visuals of ‘Disease’.
The Tanu Muino-directed video opens on a quiet suburban street, revealing a shadowy figure behind the wheel of a car as the camera shifts to show Gaga lying on the hood, appearing possessed with a nosebleed as she sings the first verse. In a tense scene, she grapples with another character before attempting to escape the car. The driver, dressed in a Renaissance-inspired plague doctor costume, momentarily holds her, but Gaga quickly breaks free.
Her escape attempt ends in a struggle as she tries to pass through two walls that close in around her. Check it out in the video below.
In a recent social media post discussing the ‘Disease’ video, Gaga shared her thoughts on her relationship with her inner demons. She mentioned that facing the chaos and turmoil in her life has always been challenging for her and that it often leaves her feeling claustrophobic.
She stated that ‘Disease’ is about confronting her fears and embracing her inner darkness, acknowledging that she can’t always escape the frightening parts of herself. She reflected on the futility of running from these aspects, recognizing that they are an intrinsic part of who she is. She expressed that no matter how hard she tries to flee, she will eventually confront those parts of herself again, even if only briefly.

Gaga described her journey as one of “dancing, morphing, running, and purging,” emphasizing the beauty of integrating these elements into her identity. She sees herself as the conductor of her own symphony, embodying every role in the narratives of her art and life. She emphasized that the answers to her struggles lie within her, making them essential to her identity. She stated that she saves herself by persevering and embraced her strength, declaring that she is ready to face any challenge. She wished her fans a happy Halloween.
Earlier this week, she expressed her “insane joy” over the positive reaction from fans to her new single and hinted that there is “a LOT more to come” soon. Gaga had previously teased ‘Disease’ by cleverly hiding the track’s title within her Spotify catalog, using upper and lower case letters to spell out the word across various song titles. For instance, “Dance In The Dark” was altered to “dANCE IN THE DARK.” When all the letters were combined, they revealed the title “disease.” She also created a playlist titled “.com” that arranged songs to spell out “Gaga disease.”

In a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, she indicated that she wasn’t quite ready to discuss her new album but promised to share more about the “unhinged” project soon. She noted that her new pop album differs significantly from her previous work, specifically mentioning that it is nothing like 2020’s ‘Chromatica’. She expressed excitement about this new phase of her music, stating that it’s intended to reflect a specific time in her life. Gaga also mentioned that she enjoys the freedom of not having to adhere to a single era, allowing her to explore multiple themes simultaneously, which she found exhilarating.
Last month, she released ‘Harlequin’, a companion album for her upcoming film ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, and in August, she collaborated with Bruno Mars on the standalone single ‘Die With A Smile.’
