We Love You More Than Love, BTS

Bring out the cakes, confetti and candles, because BTS just turned 7! The much loved K-Pop band just celebrated their debut anniversary after leaving behind a string of treats for their fans, ARMY.

The seven-member group set foot into the music industry on June 13, 2013. Since then, they’ve gone on to witness roaring success. From performing at the Grammys to scoring some stellar collabs to joining YouTube’s one billion club - they’ve added a number of new feathers to their cap, this year.

Currently the boys have been preoccupied with ‘Festa 2020’ which is a yearly celebratory event leading up to their anniversary. The festivities kickstarted on June 1st. And along the way, we’ve been blessed with countless photoshoots, a brand new tune from their youngest member, Jungkook, the dance practice video for their 2018 MAMA Awards performance and - hoo, give us a minute to catch our breath.

More recently they also dropped in with their adorable animated video for the tune, ‘We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal’ which tracked their journey since debut. Oh and they also dished out details on their brand new Japanese album titled, ‘Map of the Soul: The Journey’.

Over the past two weeks we’ve been showered with so much content, and that’s precisely what makes ‘BTS Festa’ so special. When the clock struck 12, (KST), the boys live-streamed a little birthday party they had, to celebrate the occasion. Between decorating various cakes, blowing balloons and bursting into impromptu karaoke sessions, this video was absolutely wholesome.

To top it all off, the band’s leader, Kim Namjoon, put out a heartfelt message on Weverse. You might want to grab a tissue or two, because we’ve picked out some of his most emotional lines, while reflecting on the band’s journey.

"I thought I had observed our old and earliest selves many many times, but in the process of thoroughly studying photos from our debut period one after another, I didn't feel like the me that I had known, so they felt strange and unfamiliar. 

I thought also of the spirited letter I had written around the time of debut, promising that I would make you all proud. Dates are... I believe anniversaries are the special signposts in a very tedious and obvious life. It is a curious thing, that we can feel better due to a number.

I, at last, feel like I can breathe easily. It is a true relief that we could race on, healthily, smilingly. If I look to my side, I see friends, who have become much cooler and so I brace myself. Even after seven years, there are a couple of things that can't be grasped... can't be explained that rise up in my heart, fiery and strong. Moments that I sometimes miss but can never come again... But, I was happy then because it was then, and I am happy now because it is now.

I thank you for giving me life and for allowing me to never give up. That you so much. I will work hard, just like I've shouted through the seven years. Starting from Bang Bang Con tomorrow! Still, as ever, I hope that my love is being delivered to you. I love you more than love, ARMY."

While you let this sink in, May we also remind you that this weekend, on June 14th, BTS will perform a 90 minute, pay-to-watch online concert. Titled, ‘Bang Bang Con: The Live’, the boys plan to wrap up all celebrations with this event.
