‘Weapons’ Trailer Teases Chilling Horror as Children Vanish in New Film by Zach Cregger

In Zach Cregger’s new horror movie ‘Weapons’, children are shown running from their houses, as revealed in the teaser trailer.

With an ensemble cast that includes Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Julia Garner, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong,  Cary Christopher, and Amy Madigan, the movie is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. in theatres on 8th August.

The multi-layered tale of ‘Weapons’ centres on a small community where kids inexplicably disappear throughout the night. The trailer’s narrator, who claims that the kids “walked out of the homes” on their own, without anyone dragging or coercing them, suggests the eerie nature of these disappearances.

After a very heated bidding war, The Hollywood Reporter announced in early 2023 that New Line had acquired the rights to Cregger’s Weapons spec script, allegedly paying him a hefty eight-figure payment to write and direct the film.

Alongside others, Cregger, who previously helmed the 2022 cult blockbuster ‘Barbarian’, which brought in over $45 million at the worldwide box office, also produced ‘Weapons’.  When Cregger unveiled the first trailer for ‘Weapons’ at CinemaCon earlier this month, Richard Brener of New Line called the movie “intriguing and unpredictable, with a nice helping of batshit insane.”

Cregger made appearances on television programs including ‘Wrecked’ and ‘Dads With Kids’.  Austin Abrams, who starred in ‘Weapons’, is reportedly being considered for the lead part in Cregger’s upcoming remake of the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise.
