Wham’s All Time Favourite ‘Last Christmas’ Back to No. 1 in The UK

Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ has been a fan-favourite for decades now, so it’s no surprise that the song is back to No. 1 in the UK for the final week of the year. According to the results of the Official Charts Company, ‘Last Christmas’ has managed to scoop over 79,000 combined chart units, which also includes a market-leading 18 million streams, to bag the last No. 1 of the year 2022.

The latest survey has a festive spirit attached to it, with holiday numbers swamping the Top 40 on the charts. With a total of 34 Christmas songs in the Top 40, we have ‘All I Want For Christmas is You’ by Mariah Carey, ‘Merry Christmas’ by Ed Sheeran and Elton John, ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ by Brenda Lee, ‘It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas rebounds’ by Michael Bublé, ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ by Bobby Helms, ‘Original Someday At Christmas’ by Lizzo, ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues and ‘It’s The Most Wonderful Time of Year’ by Andy Williams.

Apart from Wham, LadBaby also set a new chart record with ‘Food Aid’ featuring at No. 1 last week. This becomes the husband-wife duo’s fifth Christmas leader on the charts. However, the charts are set to move drastically with Christmas songs finally bidding their farewell after the festive season coming to an end. Stormzy’s ‘This is What I Mean’ ballad ‘Firebabe’  is the highest charting non-Christmas themed song that peaked this year.
