What’s Mad Cool Festival 2020’s line-up?

After several days of teaser images and cryptic messages across social media platforms, the Mad Cool Festival have now revealed the first six names for their 2020 edition. Mad Cool is one of Europe’s biggest and best music festivals, held each summer in the Spanish capital, and this year sees Madrid’s flagship festival expand to four days! This is in celebration of reaching a milestone, fifth anniversary edition.

In-keeping with their usual commitment to bringing the biggest names in music to the Spanish capital, each summer, the first announcement is packed with superstars – starting with pop icons like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish, both of whom add the Mad Cool Festival to their ever-growing schedule of European festival appearances next summer.

Swedish star Tove Lo also bolsters the festival’s pop credentials for next summer, taking her latest album Sunshine Kitty on tour in Madrid. But it’s not just pop music that will be offered at the fifth edition of the Spanish festival, as legendary alternative rock band ‘Pixies’, experimental indie trio ‘alt-‘J, and global superstars of alternative hip hop and pop rap ‘Twenty one pilots’ have also been confirmed to appear.

This first lineup announcement follows the recent news that 2020 will see the festival expand to four days for the first time, with other changes including a reduced daily capacity, an increased number of stages, and a bigger focus on the restaurant and leisure areas of the site.

Last year, Mad Cool festival saw the likes of The Cure, The National, Iggy Pop, The 1975, Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Robyn, Sharon Van Etten, Yonaka, The Gossip and Lauryn Hill appearing in the event in Madrid.
