‘A Sacrifice’: Sadie Sink Confronts a Chilling Cult Leader in Teaser

It’s been a while since viewers last saw Sadie Sink from ‘Stranger Things’ on screen. Her last appearance was in Brendan Fraser’s comeback film ‘The Whale.’ Recently, she has been busy working with the rest of the cast on the final season of the hit 80s-themed horror series.

However, she’ll return to theatres this month in the new psychological thriller ‘A Sacrifice,’ with Collider offering an exclusive sneak peek of her role. In the footage, Sink’s character, Mazzy, meets Sophie Rois’ character, who gives her an unsettling introduction to her group.

Before encountering Rois’ character, Mazzy hugs her new boyfriend, played by Jonas Dassler. He has introduced her to Berlin’s underground party scene and now takes her to meet a group led by his mother. Initially hesitant due to the masked individuals in the lobby, Mazzy eventually meets Rois, who welcomes her warmly and explains their cause—to free themselves from destructive behaviours and worldly attachments to purify and heal the Earth. Rois then gives Mazzy a necklace and recites a cryptic line about life, leaving Mazzy feeling uneasy.

Directed by Jordan Scott, ‘A Sacrifice’ primarily follows Ben Monroe (Eric Bana), Mazzy’s father and an American social psychologist investigating a local Berlin cult responsible for disturbing events. As Mazzy becomes involved with the cult, Monroe races to save her from their clutches. Sylvia Hoeks also stars in the film.

Scott, the daughter of legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, adapted the story from Nicholas Hogg’s novel ‘Tokyo Nobody,’ with some plot changes. The original story is set in Tokyo and follows Monroe as he searches for his former lover, intertwining with Mazzy and a cult survivor named Koji. A star-studded creative team, including her father as a producer, helps bring Scott’s vision to life.
