‘A Simple Favor 2’: Anna Kendrick And Blake Lively Reunite For Sequel

Amazon Studios and Lionsgate have officially greenlit the sequel to the popular 2018 mystery comedy film, ‘A Simple Favor.’ Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are set to return to their roles, with Paul Feig once again directing. The ensemble cast, including Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, Kelly McCormack and Henry Golding, will also reprise their roles for ‘A Simple Flavor 2.’

Jessica Sharzer, who penned the script for the first film based on Darcy Bell’s novel, will return as the writer for the sequel.

In ‘A Simple Favor 2,’ Stephanie (Kendrick) and Emily (Lively) embark on a journey to the picturesque island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. However, amidst the glittering festivities, the pair find themselves caught up in a web of murders, betrayals and unexpected twists.

The sequel will be produced by Feigco Entertainment, with Laura Fischer joining Feig as a producer. Sharzer will serve as both the scriptwriter and executive producer for the film. Production for ‘A Simple Favor 2’ is set to commence in the spring, with the film slated for release on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.

A Simple Favor

Looking back at the success of the first film, ‘A Simple Favor,’ based on Bell’s novel, follows Stephanie, a single mother and vlogger, played by Kendrick, who becomes embroiled in the mysterious disappearance of her glamorous friend Emily, portrayed by Lively. The film was a hit, grossing $53 million domestically and $97 million globally.

Before returning for ‘A Simple Favor 2,’ Blake Lively will star in the screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel ‘It Ends With Us,’ set to release in June. Meanwhile, Anna Kendrick can be seen in this year’s Hulu film ‘Self Reliance’ and will make her feature directorial debut for Netflix with ‘Woman of the Hour,’ scheduled for release in the fall.

Paul Feig, known for his directorial work on films like ‘Bridesmaid’ and ‘Spy,’ is set to helm ‘A Simple Flavor 2’ following his recent project, Netflix’s ‘The School for Good and Evil.’
